John Mark & Julie: Engagement

September 3, 2009

We sat there together, stretching, before the boys basketball game at Tarleton State University. The guy that I had been talking to on facebook for the past 2 weeks was coming to watch me cheer that night. I had never met him before and I was NERVOUS. I had only seen pictures of him, but I knew exactly who he was when I saw him walk in across the gym. “There he is!” I whispered to Julie. The rest of the night Julie kept telling me how Eric was stalking me from the stands. Julie was there when I met the guy that would eventually become my husband.

John Mark and Julie’s family were long time friends. JM & J had known about each other, but hadn’t really gotten a chance to spend time together. When they eventually met up, they knew that there was something special between the two of them. I got to experience them together for the first time this past weekend and I was so happy for Julie and how in love they both are with each other. I do not know two people who could be more perfect for one another!

John Mark and Julie, thank you so much for asking me to be with you on your wedding day in December. I cannot wait to witness (and capture) the moment when you are joined together forever. Ya’ll are such a sweet couple and mean a lot to me! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek! (Finally, right?!!?)

I had to share this… Julie cracked me up because she let me know how I was smiling so big behind the camera… and she proceeded to give me an example of what I looked like! I can’t help it if I LOVE what I do! :)

The long lost field…

August 18, 2009

I’ve been looking for a good field for months now. MONTHS. I needed a field with good tall grass, a backdrop of trees, and as little amount of chiggers as possible (the 3rd qualification cannot be proven… but I could only hope). So, I got to use the field I found with the last engagement session I had.

Drew and Lensie were my Guinea Pigs. Actually, I don’t like that term…. they were the LUCKY ones who got to be FIRST to use a couple new locations I found. I love using new locations. You know what I also love? A handsome couple. I got both!! Yay! Drew and Lensie are such a fun couple. Lensie shared with me that when Drew proposed to her, she bumped heads with him. Only a fun, confident gal can share such an “intimate” moment about her and her fiance. ;)

With only one head bump during the session, I think the pictures turned out wonderfully. Thank you Drew and Lensie for letting me have so much fun with you! I can’t wait to shoot your wedding! Hope you like the sneak peek!

BJ & Mikka: Engagement

July 20, 2009

Mikka told BJ about her dream to one day build a house on a beautiful hill in the country where she grew up. Not that she was hinting at anything, since they started dating in high school. Several years later, before Mikka headed out for night with the girls, BJ asked her to show him the exact spot she wanted to build the house of her dreams. In her high heels and dressy clothes, they treaded through the high grass to get to her dream spot. “Okay, here it is. Can we go now???” She asked him in a hurry.  BJ got on one knee and asked for permission to spend the rest of his life with her, hopefully one day in a house on that very hill. I think the evening with the girls was probably cancelled. :)

BJ and Mikka, it was so good to see you both again. I can’t wait to spend the day with you in October as you exchange your vows! Thank you for trusting me to capture this time in your lives! Enjoy your sneak peek!

Special thanks to The Inn on Lake Granbury for allowing us to shoot on their property. I would HIGHLY reccommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking for somewhere to stay while visiting Granbury or if your looking for a romantic getaway. In fact, this is where Eric proposed to me a couple years ago! Maybe I’ll share our story on our anniversary! :) So, check them out!

Mikka: I love them! Can't wait to see the rest!

Jace and JP had been dating on and off for about 6 years.  Actually, they weren’t “technically together” when Jace proposed. That’s right. But this sly young man took JP out to dinner (not an unusual occurance) and not long after dinner ended, began to pour his heart out to her in an offering of love. “Are you PROPOSING???” JP asked. She had told him that the next time they got back together, she wanted it to be forever. Jace was ready for the commitment, and JP, with her gorgeous ring, was more than delighted to oblige.

Jace and JP, thank you for inviting me out to your ranch to take your photos. The land and lakes are beautiful and made for some wonderful backdrops! Blessings to you two in your marriage!

I can’t decide which I like better??? Any opinions?

Nathan and Lindsey are some cool cats. A lot of times new clients will show up a little timid about having someone take their picture, but not these two. They came ready and willing to strut their stuff, and BOY did they! The first image is a picture from the beginning of the session, and doesn’t Lindsey look awesome? Get it, girl. So, the 3 of us (and Lindsey’s super cool mom) walked around the Stockyards in Ft. Worth stopping at places that pleased my photographic eye. I think we got some really great shots, if I do say so myself. :) It was so easy to photograph them. Lindsey has an infectious smile, and you just can’t help but join in with all the smiling. Nathan is such a jokester. He could make a mime laugh, I swear. So, between the two of them, I really enjoyed capturing some great candid moments. There were SOOO many of them laughing with each other, I couldn’t edit them all (this late, anyway…… notice it’s 2:30 am…. LOL!). After our session tonight, we had dinner at a fun little Mexican restaurant. It was so great getting to know a little bit about them and their story (which I will share sometime), and not to mention I enjoyed my nachos (probably too much, ha!). Nathan and Lindsey are such a great couple and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next summer.  Thank you guys for the fun tonight! Enjoy your sneak peek!
