It’s SO fun to be able to photograph two old friends. I felt like we were all just a few friends who happened to be hanging out in a field with a bunch of props and I had my camera in hand. That makes sense, right? :)

I had such a great time with BJ & Mikka. If you recall, I photographed their wedding 1 year ago… and now they have entered into their second year of marriage! They have also just moved to Weatherford, which I like because that means they are a lot closer to us! Now if we can just schedule time to hang out!

Mikka is also a photographer and typically a second shooter for Double Knot Photography if we need her! She’s an awesome photographer, an amazing friend, and such a sweet sweet gal. BJ is a State Trooper. Oh yeah. That automatically makes him cool. But, he’s also a super genuine guy, laid back, and full of fun. As you can tell, I enjoy being around them!

BJ & Mikka, ya’ll rock. That’s it. Ya’ll just do. Enjoy your pictures.

I actually met the Rios’ over the summer at Lyndsey & Josh’s amazing wedding (Lyndsey & Kellee are sisters).  When Kellee asked me if I could photograph their family (with consists of Kellee, her hubby, and their two dogs), I was more than thrilled! First of all, I’m a dog fanatic. No really. Remember the time I stopped to pick up an abandoned puppy? Let’s just say, I would be one of those crazies with 57 dogs in my home if it weren’t for my husband and his realistic thinking. Gah.

So, I’ll just live vicariously through my clients and their animals. :) It was SOO fun getting to spend some time with the Rios’ and their pups. What a joyful evening. The sun set so perfectly and gave me a perfect “golden hour” for shooting! I had a great time… and I got some images that I love! Enjoy!

The first time I met Amber & Garrett for a session, it was raining. It wasn’t pouring down rain, but it definitely wasn’t ideal for a photoshoot. Instead of canceling, they wanted to make sure I got some pictures of their dog Vido because we wasn’t doing to well and they didn’t know how much longer he was going to live. So, for about 15 minutes we ventured into the mist to grab some shots of Amber, Garrett, Aspen, and Vido. After the shoot, we rescheduled for another day a week or two later. Only a few days later, Amber sent me an email saying that Vido went to puppy heaven and she was so thankful we got the shots that we did of the pup. In honor of Vido, I did this post, hoping to cheer them up a little!

The good news was that we got to reschedule for a nice, sunny evening, with perfect weather for just the two of them. Since our first meeting, Eric & I had a chance to hang out with the Wigintons (we are always happy to make new friends!) and so on the second shoot I felt like we were old friends. It was fun to joke with them and just see them comfortably together. Although, I know most guys are NOT comfortable in front of the camera (believe me, almost every session the girl says “He really doesn’t enjoy pictures”), but just knowing certain things about them as a couple allowed for lots of casual conversation and fun moments during the shoot!

Amber & Garrett, I’m so glad you booked a session so we could become friends! Now you have some new pictures for your beatiful red accent wall! :)

In order to honor a very special dog, I interrupt my normal blogging pattern. This family wasn’t the next in line for blogging, but I wanted to do a special blog. I hope that’s okay with everyone. My new friends, Amber & Garrett, emailed me not too long ago asking if I could do a photoshoot with them and their dogs! Well, of course I said yes. I LOVE little doggies. Or big doggies. Or animals in general (just ask my photography partner, Micah… she laughs at how much compassion I have for animals… and how much I desire to take their pictures… HA!). Anyway, when I found out a little more about their dog, Vido, I was even more compelled to squeeze in a photoshoot for them!

Garrett got Vido when he was 8 years old. All together, he has been in the Wiginton family for FIFTEEN YEARS! Since Garrett and Amber got married, Amber also became the adoptive mom to Vido and they were all very happy together. Recently, they found out that Vido had a tumor in his stomach and he did not have very much longer to live. Thankfully, in order to remember Vido and his happy-go-lucky attitude, we got to have a photoshoot of all of them together.

It is with deep regret that I tell you that Vido had to be put to sleep yesterday. Amber and Garrett, I know you will miss him so much, but I pray that these photographs will bring joy to you! It is with pleasure that I present: Vido!!

Tanner & Morgan: Couple

June 25, 2010

Tanner & Morgan are so special to me. Their family has been on my blog NUMEROUS times… which is such a compliment because that means they keep coming back to me for their photography needs. They were actually one of the very first families I photographed when starting out and I’ve been able to watch their kids grow up! Tanner entered the army about a year ago and so their family has seen a lot of changes recently. One of the biggest changes is that they will be moving to Kentucky, where Tanner will be stationed! I know that their families will miss them incredibly (and me too!), but hopefully we will see them back here often.

For a special treat, Morgan scheduled a “Couples” session for just the two of them so we could get some really sweet pictures of them together. I SO enjoyed letting them love on each other in front of me and getting to capture that for them! We got so many awesome shots, I can’t wait to see which ones Morgan orders for her new home!

Morgan & Tanner, Eric & I love you both and are always here for you guys! Ya’ll are such an inspiration to so many couples and we pray the best for you two in the future! Thank you, Tanner, for serving our country and thank you, Morgan, for being such a strong army wife! I hope you LLOOOVVVEEE your pictures!
