Chaney: Senior

March 26, 2010

What do ticks and theatre have in common? Well, nothing really…. but, in this case, they do. Sort of. You see, Chaney’s mom contacted me a while back to schedule a senior session, and finally after a few weeks of figuring out schedules and weather, we finally got together! Chaney has spent a lot of time doing theater and requested to shoot inside the Opera House where she has performed several times in various plays. I know, she’s super talented! We also went around other places in Granbury shooting in the beautiful weather. Somewhere along the way, me being… ME…. I told Chaney that one time after coming home from a camping trip, I found a tick under my arm. I know, I know… telling a client that you’ve had a tick is NOT the most professional OR intriguing thing to talk about. But, that’s why Chaney has been one of my favorite seniors to photograph. She was laid back, go-with-the-flow, and laughed with me when I said things that I probably shouldn’t (not to mention almost getting my eye poked out by a branch that swung back and hit me when I was trying to move it). I’m a dork and a clutz, but hey, since I embrace it, you might as well too!

Needless to say, Chaney has an amazing personality and is quite a girl. I am so blessed to have met her and I’m so thankful to be able to photograph people like her! Thank you Casey and Chaney for trusting me to document your lives! I think behind all the tick-talk we got some genuine smiles! :)

Michael: Senior

March 25, 2010

I cannot believe Michael is a senior this year and about to graduate! Michael is Eric’s little brother, who was only 14 when Eric & I started dating. Since he’s become my brother-in-law, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know what he’s all about and of course, giving him a hard time like all big sisters are supposed to do. ;)

Michael is going to Tarleton next year (GO TEXANS!), so he will be only 30 minutes down the road. I can’t wait to be able to see him more often and for him to start serving at StoneWater with us! Michael, thanks for spending spring break with us! Sorry our session got cut short by the sun, but I hope you find some pictures you like! Love ya!

And this is my precious (do you sense the sarcasm?) husband with his March Madness Mustache. Our church held a contest for the best Mustache during March Madness. Eric couldn’t enter the contest to win since he is on staff, but he won in my books. Look at him. He looks like a biker. WOW. Glad it’s gone now, but here’s something to remember it by!

Michael is into Motocross and dirt bikes and apparently his Motocross buddies call him Moose. I think they look alike, don’t you?

AND he’s super-talented at making things! He does a lot of woodworking and crafting. He makes these Texas signs and they are really cool! If you are interested in purchasing one, shoot me an email!

Dunnagan Girls: Children

March 25, 2010

I was SO excited when Kelly emailed me to see if I could photograph her two little princesses in their Easter dresses! I LOVE little girls and Easter dresses. I think it just reminds me of the innocence of children, the way they think and play. It’s no wonder that Jesus told us it would be better for us to be like children in our faith! They are so eager, so willing, so trusting.

Kelly also requested the “orange chair” that she saw me use in Emmy’s portrait session and I was happy to use it again! I actually spotted this chair in my mom’s attic when we were up there finding some jewelry that would be fun for a photo shoot. I think it has worked SO well!  Thanks, Mom, for letting me borrow it again! :)

Kelly, I hope you find some images that you just adore! Your girls are precious!

Pam Vincnet: I'm the very proud great aunt. These are two of the most beautiful children I've ever seen...Your photography is stunning!

I’ve honestly never met a bride like Amanda. You know what a bridezilla looks like? Picture the EXACT OPPOSITE of that…. and that’s Amanda. She is the most humble, do-it-amazingly-yourself, full of life and love - bride. Let me explain. First of all, when we had our consultation way back in the summer, she told me that she was going to Culinary School. Yeah. Way cool. But wait, it gets even cooler. She also told me that SHE would be cooking the meal for all of her wedding guests AND baking her own wedding cakes AND making truffles for all the guests (might I mention they were SOOO good?!). She’s amazing, right? I know.

But that’s not the most incredible thing of it all. When we got to the reception, I found out that she had decorated everything herself. It was SO beautiful and colorful. Then, the guests ate her delicious Italian dinner (I know this, of course,  because I had some) after Amanda and Eric insisted the guests get their food first…. just like any cook would do - except it was the cook’s wedding day! Wow. And then, after Amanda and Eric cut the cake, she proceeded to serve it to all her guests. It was such a kind gesture. I’ve never seen it before and I’m not sure I’ll ever experience it again, but what an amazing way to tell your guests thank you for celebrating the day with you. (Tear)

Amanda and Eric, you both are such incredible people, and I’m SO SO blessed to have met you, befriended you, and photographed you. You both are such an inspiration in the way you live life! Thank you so much for asking me to spend your day with you!

Emmy: 9 Months

March 11, 2010

There is something inspiring about blue eyes. It’s the sparkle, the intensity, and the spirit about big blue eyes. Although I was blessed with brown eyes, I always secretly wanted to have a pair of insanely bright blue eyes for a few days just to see how it would feel. I just know I would be inspired to conquer the world. :)

Emmy and her brother and sister all have the most beautiful blue eyes. They are incredible. As I was looking through all of the pictures I captured of them, I was taken aback by the beauty that those little eyes had. I know that each of those pairs of blue eyes have an amazing future ahead of them with endless possibilities. It’s not the blue eyes that make that possible, but the God who created those eyes, and the parents that look into them everyday.

Thank you so much, Natalie, for asking me to capture the beauty of life in your children. It was so fun to spend the afternoon with you all! I hope you find some images you adore! Blessings!!
