Chris & Jessica: Engagement

November 12, 2009

I’m so excited about shooting Jessica and Chris’ wedding. They are getting married in a Castle. Yup. A Castle in Thurber, TX! What a location, right? So, come next May, I will be driving down I20 to spend the day with the royal couple.

Jessica and Chris have a story about the way they met that is very similar to mine and Eric’s story. Eric and I “met” on Facebook. I’ll have to go into more details another day, but it’s pretty funny. Jessica and Chris “met” on AOL instant messenger. Jessica’s roommate at the time was friends with Chris and had him as a friend on AOL IM. When Jessica’s roommate wasn’t at the computer one day when Chris IM’d her, Jessica was kind enough to let him know her rommate wasn’t at home. Apparently she was so kind that Chris couldn’t stop talking to her! And the rest, they say, is history.

It was so great to spend the evening with Jessica and Chris. We had a great time running around downtown Granbury, dodging the crazy tourists and locals who swarm the square every Saturday. They are such a sweet couple and I really enjoyed watching them laugh and just be together. They are a great couple! So, thanks Jess and Chris for choosing me to document your journey to wedded bliss! I can’t wait until May, but until then, I hope you find some images that you treasure!

Homemade Payday

November 6, 2009

Every Halloween I look forward to hanging out with my family, eating the traditional chili-dogs, and giving out candy to all the cute little trick-or-treaters. This year, my mom and I decorated the front porch with orange lights, jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins, scarecrows, cats, skeletons… you name it, we had it. It was lookin’ spppooookkkyyyy. Kinda. Most of the comments we got were about how beautiful my mom’s flower bed looked in the front yard, but hey… it was a SCARY flower bed.

Here is a picture of Romeo awaiting the trick-or-treaters.

A couple Halloween’s ago, I was introduced to a new holiday treat that I thought would be fun to share with you, especially since all the halloween candy is now on sale! It’s really simple. All you do is buy a bag of candycorn (stay with me, I don’t like candycorn by itself either…), buy a jar of peanuts, and mix them together in a bowl. Then comes the hard part… you have to eat them at the SAME TIME. Yes, I know, this takes coordination to hold peanuts and candycorn in your hand and pop them in your mouth all at once, but it IS possible! When you taste the two otherwise less-than-desirable foods together, you get a Homemade Payday. Yes, I know I could just buy a bunch of Paydays at the store… but that’s not celebrating the Halloween spooky-ness without the candycorn. So next Halloween, try the little concoction and you will find it to be a surprisingly tasty treat! :)

Earnestine: Ashley, you have to put milk chocolate chips in with the corn and nuts. Then you can't resist. delish

Noell: Senior

November 3, 2009

I’ve never post processed so many photos so easily, and it’s not because I’m some genius photographer that knows everything there is to know. No, it’s because of Noell. She is one amazing gal. She is confident, beautiful, and down-to-earth. Plus, she knew how to work it in front of the camera. AND… I  normally have to spend time “perfecting” people’s faces (aka, getting rid of our beloved friend, the zit) - but not on Noell. Yeah, it’s just wrong when a senior in high school has no zits. I’m still breaking out like a 13 year old. (Sigh…) Oh Noell. You are beautiful inside and out. Thank you (and Brandyn!) so much for letting me spend a beautiful morning with you, capturing your sweet self in your senior year. You guys rock!

Meet Noell!

Noell’s best friend also came along for the shoot and I grabbed a few of the two of them together. There is something special about two girls who share a friendship. I truly find those relationships invaluable… so it was so neat to see them two together!

Misti: Smile. If it helps, I'm 33 and I'm still breaking out. Sigh. Great shots - I love the "hobbit hole" one - frames her nicely!

Brandyn: Ashley, you have an awesome gift with the pictures you bless us with. Noell's pictures are beautiful. Thank you for such an amazing experience.

Toni Crisman: WOW, my niece has always been beautiful but these pictures truely capture her beauty. I have a 10th grader and I believe now that I know who will be shooting his senior pics....Love u Noell

Lauren: Life Session

November 2, 2009

I have an official new “Category” of photography sessions. I would like to introduce: the Life Session. A life session is simply a photoshoot that celebrates who you are right now in life. You don’t have to have a special reason to get pictures done… like a wedding, a pregnancy, or for Christmas. That’s because we all need to enjoy the every day occurrences of life. Who we are, what we are becoming, and how we are living. We should celebrate life because every day is a blessing.

Lauren knows what it’s all about. She’s graduating from Tarleton State University (GO TEXANS!) in December and wanted a few fun shots to celebrate this time in her life. We had a TON of fun getting different shots around the campus. Lauren is so spunky and fun, and it was great to see her again! Lauren, enjoy your sneak peek!
